KPOP POWERHOUSES GIRLS' GENERATION RELEASE "I GOT A BOY" VIDEO & SWEEP DIGITAL SALES WORLDWIDE

So for those of you that don't know, which is probably all of you, I'm a massive K-Pop/K-Drama/K-Anything fan! No, I don't speak Korean or understand it (actually, I've learnt a lot from K-Dramas haha) but it's just so darn catchy and addictive. I've already posted some K-Drama reviews so go ahead and check those out if you're into those sort of things (in fact, why not check them out even if you're not ;) ). I received this post in an email from Cornerstone Agency who are an American PR company and I thought I'd share it with you all:

Just in time for the beginning of the new year, K-Pop powerhouses Girls’ Generation released their hotly anticipated fourth studio album I GOT A BOY online and in stores on January 1st. The album boasts 10 infectious pop gems and features collaborations with European production team Dsign Music, singer-songwriter Pixie Lott, Joe Belmaati, Yoo Youngjin, Park Changhyun, and various other K-pop hit-makers.

Immediately upon its release, I GOT A BOY swept #1 on digital charts worldwide, including Melon, Bugs, Monkey3, Soribada, Mnet, Naver Music, Olleh Music, and Daum Music. It entered the Top 20 on the iTunes Best-Selling Album Chart.

Also on New Year's Day, Girls’ Generation released their second official video for the album, this time for the title track. Their management team, SM Entertainment emphasized that "I Got a Boy" will showcase a different side of the group’s artistry, “It is a different song compared to the basic style that Girls’ Generation usually has shown. It’s a song that feels like a new challenge, and the song contains many musical styles and tempo changes. The addicting melody in the chorus is very memorable.”

Upon its release yesterday, "I Got a Boy" received well over 3.5M views in just 24 hours. Check out the colorful new clip here.

Just before the holidays, Girls’ Generation premiered their retro-centric video for "Dancing Queen", a catchy remake of the Duffy smash single "Mercy".

MUSIC REVIEW: One Direction.

One Direction's debut single.

Finally. One Direction have released their debut single 'What Makes You Beautiful'. The release date of their debut album has been pushed backwards and forwards backwards and forwards that fans were getting very agitated and impatient, but here it is! Sort of. You can find the video on youtube (see below) and you'll probably be hearing it on the radio a lot, but the official release date isn't until the 12th of September (available for download on iTunes from the 11th). Following their single, their debut album is set to be released this autumn.

I really don't have a clue how to review songs so I'm just going to give you my first impression of it. There's something very 'Grease' about the opening couple of bars, don't you think? Or maybe it's just me. Whether or not you like the song, it's one of those tunes that's going to stick in your head as it's very catchy. What bothers me about it is the constant repetition of certain syllables of words, personally, I think it's quite unneccessary, but I guess it just goes with the s-o-ong. It's a very suitable song for these boys seeing as their main market is screaming teenage girls. I guess it's a feel good song. (The video's kinda funky too!). This song is definitely for teenage girls, though I'm sure it will be stuck in everybody's head within no time.

Oh God... It's stuck in my head already. *presses repeat*

One Direction.

I still don't know why Liam is the only one topless in this photo but hey I'm not complaining.

This time last year, the boys of One Direction didn't even know each other. Today they celebrate their one year anniversary together as a band. Now boy bands don't seem to get much good publicity these days, and given that One Direction were booted to fame by a reality TV show, they've done really well. I've always felt that the runners up of the X Factor do much much better than the actual winners of the show, for example, JLS are much more famous than Alexandra Burke, there is much more publicity about One Direction and Cher Lloyd than there is about Matt Cardle, then again, the winners did walk away with £100,000.

One Direction are set to release their very first album sometime this year and then they will go on tour next year. At first we thought the album was to be released in March, then the date was pushed back to June, but now it's nearing the end of July and there's still no sign of it. It is a mystery.

Anyways, I just wanted to say Congrats boys! Yes I love One Direction, don't judge me, and no don't think from my last few posts that I'm a crazy fan-girl, because I assure you, I am not.

It'll be interesting to see how long these lads last and whether they can make it as big superstars given that they're all so young. I'll keep you posted.

iTunes Festival 2011.

I think I'm on a lucky streak because I recently won tickets to see The Wanted (again) at the Roundhouse in Camden as part of iTunes Festival 2011. You cannot buy tickets to the festival you can only win tickets through competitions or be invited as a guest. In a way this is a lot better than having people buy tickets because it gives the public who may not have loads of money to spend on expensive concert tickets the opportunity to see their favourite artists live. However, it also means that some people who desperately want to see their favourite artist can't whilst some people who are not that interested will. Thankfully I won tickets to see The Wanted, who I love, so things worked out for me.

The concert was absolutely great. The Wanted were supported by Dionne Bromfield, who is an incredibly talented singer, and there was even an appearance from Amy Winehouse (Dionne Bromfield's godmother)! They performed many of their songs including Glad You Came, All Time Low, Gold Forever, Personal Soldier, Say It On The Radio, Lightning, Heart Vacancy as well as two covers Animal by Neon Trees and Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls.

It's so easy to enter these competitions and win free tickets and you can enter for as many artists as you like! I highly recommend you try your luck next year when iTunes Festival comes round again. If you win tickets you, personally, have to attend as it has your name on the ticket, this prevents people selling their tickets to the unlucky people who didn't win tickets.

This is a great and FREE opportunity available for everyone so get involved next time this comes around!

The Wanted: Glad You Came.

Popular boy band, The Wanted, released their single Glad You Came on CD on the 11th July. Most people have to listen to the track a couple of times before finally beginning to come round to single and I have to admit, I'm not it's biggest fan. However, what I will say, is that the five boys who made this single are genuinely great people. I had the pleasure of meeting The Wanted, one sunny afternoon, as they played a private gig in my friend's living room after she won a competition, and they are such lovely guys. If there was ever a band worth supporting, this is it.

I have to say I wasn't very pleased with the 'Glad You Came' video as all I saw was The Wanted dancing with girls in skimping clothing which I believe is against what they stand for and that they're better than that. None the less Glad You Came is a decent song, so I recommend you download it off itunes or buy the single.

Glee: The Music 5.

Glee's albums have been doing very well every since the show started in 2009. This is their 5th album with the latest 16 songs, and they're bigger and better than ever. I believe that this album contains a lot less covers of new pop songs and some more dated tunes such as Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'. There are also some songs featuring Gweneth Paltrow and John Stamos. This album includes a special song that was written for the show called 'Get It Right' sung by Lea Michelle. For those who watch Glee, this is a must have, and for those of you that don't, this is an album jampacked with covers of some of the most popular songs sung by a very talented group of people. Even if you dislike the show itself there is no reason not to like their album, which is 57 minutes of pure talent.

So last Saturday I went to Channel Four for 'Inspiration Day' (btw I really reccommend applying if you're 11-16 years old and interested in media) and they had two up and coming bands for us to listen to. They were both incredible, but the one that really struck me was 'Tucker'. They're exactly my kind of music, and its made up of four incredibly hot guys!
